MCI Construction worked on the terrace of the Buffalo Grill in Balaruc-le-Vieux to create four solid anchor points for the outdoor parasols. The aim was to grout sockets into concrete bases sized to provide a durable fixing, while achieving a clean finish at terrace level.
The project is set out below in the actual order of execution, in six numbered phases.

Each location was marked out by cutting with a petrol disc cutter. Four openings of 80 × 80 cm were formed to a depth of around 50 cm. The excavation was then carried out with a mini excavator, and the soil together with the extracted material was taken away to a licensed waste facility.

Once the openings had been opened up and cleaned out, the locations were prepared to receive the sockets for the parasol posts. Their position was set before grouting, so as to keep a consistent layout across the terrace.

The sockets intended to take the parasol posts were positioned and grouted into the openings. These anchors are built into the concrete bases in order to hold the terrace parasols.
Once the sockets had been grouted in, the bases were poured in concrete. The surface was levelled off as work progressed, so as to pick up the terrace level around each opening.
The concrete was then trowelled smooth to obtain a clean, even finish around the sockets and to keep the difference in level with the existing surfacing to a minimum.
On completion of the works, the four concrete bases of 80 × 80 × 50 cm are built into the terrace and the sockets are ready to receive the restaurant's parasols.
